Costa Rica Ranks Among Top 10 for Health and Wellness Vacations

According to the Active Times, Costa Rica has made the Top Ten List of Health and Wellness Vacations for 2015. The list, which compiles information related to healthy, adventurous, and active vacations, takes a variety of criteria into consideration. Among the factors considered is that for many travelers, the concept of getting away may mean not only traveling to a secluded, quiet retreat but letting go of everything else, as well. The list also takes into consideration locales where dietary indulgences are welcomes and where travelers can relax while also improving their health and wellbeing. In total, the list represents trips in which travelers can focus on every aspect of wellness while enjoying an escape that is truly free of stress.

Ranking number four on the list is the Blue Osa Resort in Costa Rica. Located in the Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica, the Blue Osa Resort is a beachfront eco-resort with a focus on yoga for rejuvenation. All meals served at Blue Osa are prepared with local-sourced organic produce. The resort is also working diligently toward implementing yoga features amidst an open-air studio that overlooks a private beach. Guests may visit the resort on their own or as part of a group or pre-organized yoga retreat program.

Costa Rica boasts a number of resorts focused on the health and wellness tourism sector. Most such resorts specifically focus on yoga and relaxation along with organic nutrition and holistic counseling. Wellness vacations are becoming increasingly popular in Costa Rica. The country's popular tourist towns frequently provide the backdrop for practicing yoga and more yoga retreat centers are being added on a regular basis. Additionally, boutique hotels have begun to catch on and now frequently offer yoga decks with ocean views. Due to the fact that so many yoga teachers have visited Costa Rica for retreats and then fallen in love and decided to stay permanently, travelers visiting the country often have a variety of different yoga options from which to choose.

Yoga retreats often provide guests with the ability to relax, the opportunity to enjoy healthier food, take part in an internal cleansing and meditation. Guests who attend a wellness retreat in Costa Rica often find that they not only feel rested when they return home but are also happier due to changes in their lifestyle, improved sleep and increased energy.
