Costa Rica – It’s a Small Town Relationships are Key to your success

I just got off the phone with three Brokers from our local area and one 30 minutes up the road.

“John, are you working with a customer by the name ShopAround Sue (SAS)?” I replied, “Yes, so I gather you are as well?” The interesting thing is that I have been “working” with ShopAround Sue for four months gathering data and inventory for her arrival next month. Bummer.

I vividly recall asking SAS if she was working with any other brokers. The answer was no. My regular protocol is to help qualify their needs and ask for representation so that I can truly work on their behalf and do all the legwork for them. Hmm…did I not follow my own modus operandi?

At least I found out in advance so that I know how to better allocate my time for SAS. Instead of giving her 1000% of my time and value (another article), I might need to adjust.

This one is even better.

After spending two days with WindowShopper Walt (WSW), introducing him to my family and sharing a ton of data about our experiences, I get this in return…

While out with local friends to dinner I spot WindowShopper Walt having dinner with another Broker sitting at the center of the restaurant. At first my emotions turn ugly as I think to myself, “Self, didn’t you spend two long days showing WSW nine properties, introducing him to my family and even facilitate in acquiring an attorney?” “Of course I did”, I replied.”

I proceed to greet WSW and the Broker with pleasantries and an open hand. His face contorted. The Broker saw the reaction, winked at me and after a few words about my time with WSW, says, “John, lets get together for coffee in the morning…”

I love espresso!

Needless to say, it may appear as if I am venting, but it is my blog.
I work tirelessly to add value for my customers, give them the best experience possible and educate them with the most current knowledge to ensure a pleasant buying experience.

WSW might eventually find what he is seeking, but he has already left a bad taste in some locals (Brokers) mouths and that may not be an enjoyable start. If he did that to me, he is doing it to others as well.

This is a small country let alone, small community. I know hundreds of brokers throughout the country, work closely with many and love to work in partnership with them. It is about building relationships that last.

So to my dear friends SAS and WSW, please know that we (I) am here to give you 1000% of my energy to earn 100% of you business, which includes working with all brokers to help you find your magical property.

Just know that it is a small town and we hear everything that goes on…
