Dominical Animal Sanctuary Volunteer Program Offers Distinctive Opportunity

At the Alturas Animal Sanctuary, volunteers are provided with a unique opportunity to help animals in need while still having ample time to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica during their free time. The mission at the animal sanctuary is to provide resident animals with the best possible quality of life while caring for their daily needs. Ultimately, the program's objective is to assist then animals and then release them back into the wild.

Despite a full-time local staff, the Sanctuary is always in need of help with a variety of tasks, including general operations. Daily care often consumes the energy of the staff, meaning that extra help from volunteers is always welcome, allowing the staff to provide care to more animals and focus on the center's long-term plans. Thanks to the devotion and care provided by volunteers, the Sanctuary is able to operate more efficiently.

What Is Involved in the Volunteer Program
Volunteers considering working with the Sanctuary should be aware that tasks each day might differ but will frequently include feeding and watering the animals in residence, providing assistance with general maintenance, such as cleaning enclosures, preparing specific food mixtures, and performing various maintenance tasks.

During their tenure at Alturas Volunteer Program, volunteers will call the small beach town of Dominical home. Recognized as a popular destination for surfers, Dominical boasts beautiful scenery and a laid back atmosphere.
